Recurser is a main character in Dave and Bambi. His only appearance so far is in the secret song, Recursed.

Appearance

Recurser is a white, blocky humanoid and a smaller, gray humanoid, the smaller inside the larger. Recurser White has a square "halo" above his head and a singular blocky eye. His body contains miscellaneous letters in the mod's font as well as small, transparent versions of his singing and idle sprites. His hands are fingerless with a grid pattern on them, and his right shoulder is in the shape of a "H." Recurser Gray has a semicircle head with a square eyeball. His head, torso, left arm, and ”shoes” are all the same dark shade of gray, the rest being a lighter color. His lower leg and body have unknown words written on them.

Personality

Recurser is a relatively laid back character that really, really likes Vs. Dave and Bambi, so much that they will “force this appreciation on you because he respects no opinions that diverge from his own.” They are also described to try and be “everything at once.”

In the retconned Terminal lore, Recurser was described as a "being of chaos that wants to spread order" whose "sanity is at the border".[1] Their idea of order was simply "[keeping] everything the way they love it"[2] and called anything that diverged from their idea of it "out of order"[3], including Dave's ability to turn 3d.[4] When given power over the game through being granted admin, Recurser chooses to create a version of Polygonized where Dave never turned 3D and interdimensionally dislocated at the end of Insanity, instead starting off 2D; this may be why in the first conversation log that Recurser merely asks Dave to stop being 3D[5], as they perhaps don't have the power otherwise to directly prevent him from doing so, but they do have some degree of influence over Expunged (or say as much), as they agree to stop Expunged from "making things out of order".[6] It is unknown how many elements of this will carry over in future game updates, although MissingTextureMan101 has described their current canon role as being a "watcher"[7], which aligns with the first conversational log where they explain they already know about Expunged due to having been watching things for some time.[8]

Relationships

While no explicitly stated relationships can be found (so far), it is implied that they have a fondness towards Dave and Bambi, as they are such an enthusiast over Vs. Dave and Bambi and built the two in their Minecraft world.

In the retconned Terminal lore, Recurser is implied to have a negative disposition towards Expunged and a neutral tolerance towards Dave, albeit disliking his ability to turn 3D.
