Bambi Bambi Bambi, simply known as Bambi in the mod, is a main character in Dave and Bambi. He appears in the songs Blocked, Corn Theft, Maze, Splitathon, Shredder, Mealie, and Indignancy. He also appears in the background of the entire Festival week and as a major character in the Terminal.

Appearance

Bambi is a short humanoid farmer with stubby proportions. He has no neck or arms, though his hands seem to float independently of his body. He also appears to have no feet, since his legs are rounded off. His eyes are white with black pupils and are mostly covered by his hat, though his eyebrows seem to float over it. He wears a dark green hat and a red shirt that is partially covered by blue overalls. The overalls have two black buttons and a front pocket. His skeleton, which is seen in his game over sprites, is composed of a single bone that extends from his legs to his head. His hands have a human-looking bone structure.

In some of his sprites, he holds a phone, which is a dark gray brick with a blue screen. When he touches the screen of the phone, it briefly flashes white. He also smashes the phone and throws it in some animations.

Splitathon

In Splitathon, Bambi is missing his overalls; he only wears his red shirt and a pair of blue pants. He has a serious expression, and swings his hands back and forth around himself.

Corn Festival Week

In Shredder, Bambi is back to his normal look, but now possesses a red and white electric guitar, similar to a Guitar Hero controller.

Extra

In Mealie and Indignancy, Bambi has a very angry expression with white irises around his black pupils. He is gritting his teeth and intensely furrowing his eyebrows. In his hand, he is strongly gripping an intensely cracked phone with a black screen.

During Recursed, if he is chosen as the playable character and a sufficient number of notes are missed, Bambi's hat, shirt and microphone will turn white, and his clothes will turn a dark gray. His face will look annoyed.

In a lore-only form, Bambi can get so furious that his clothes and hands turn completely red and his head becomes invisible.

In the Terminal, Bambi is described as having been a former god. His appearance as this god had many eyes[3], possibly hundreds.[4] Any further details are unknown.

Personality

Bambi is a short-tempered, stubborn, and impulsive individual. He cannot think quickly and is also very impatient. Despite this, he has been described as pretty down to earth if you get to know him.[5]

Though Bambi gets angry quickly, he also calms down just as fast. He's a bit of a defeatist, and if he's losing an argument he tends to not want to continue fighting anymore. An example would be when he tells Boyfriend and Girlfriend to "just, go away" at the end of the song Maze.

Bambi is described as able to make friends with anyone, if he's given the chance, and will stick up for his friends.

He doesn't like to be left out of things, as shown in Splitathon. After being told by Dave that the rivalry between he and Boyfriend doesn't involve him, Bambi sits angrily and lets the two start their singing duel. In the middle of the song, he forces his way into the match, much to Dave's frustration.

Background

Bambi's background was heavily expanded upon in the Terminal.

A long time ago[6], Bambi was a god known as Lord Bambi, or simply the lord to his followers. He had a religious following known as the Bambi religion. Lord Bambi was a being of many eyes and because of this, according to his followers, very wise due to having "seen almost everything".[7][8] His eyes represented his wisdom.[9] Madden was his prophet, and it was only the privilege of prophets to be able to refer to him directly by his name, Bambi, lest this was disrespectful.[10]

One day, Lord Bambi delivered a worrying prophecy to Madden that he will remove one of his eyes every day[11] to ensure "the Golden One" would have a bright future.[12][13] In another resource, it is implied that Bambi had also spoken about "the unnamable [sic]"[14], referring to Expunged, likely in the context that the Golden One is fated to be the key to defeating them.[15] Bambi did not tell Madden that the Golden One is Tristan[16], but did tell him that if he does not do this, the future will be dark[17], and he must do this to save them (the Bambi religion, or perhaps everyone).[18] It is unknown why removing his eyes would save anyone, or ensure Tristan has a "bright future", and remains one of the most mysterious elements of the 3.0b lore. Nonetheless, it is deeply significant to the following events in the story. Lord Bambi warned that he would become less wise and unreasonable by losing his eyes, so the followers must have faith in themselves.[19] He would remove them until he had only two left, because at that point, he "will have fallen from the heavens".[20] Losing these eyes also meant losing his memories; once they are all but gone, Bambi will never remember his old life again, and his powers will never unfold.[21][22]

Madden delivered this prophecy to the Bambi religion, but this information quickly made them paranoid and riled them up into a mass state of panic, not wanting to believe that this was true.[23] Some time during Bambi removing his eyes, an artifact written by an unknown speaker describes his gradual descent from wisdom, saying that he "used to be reasonable" and "going to heaven was a right", but not anymore as he's becoming less wise - and the Bambi religion did not want anyone to know about it, or Madden for that matter.[24] After Madden's attempted execution for falsifying prophecies[25], the religion became cutthroat in their rules, banning any discussion of "the Madden prophet", the Golden One, or the unnameable one, lest one be cast to the fiery pits of hell.[26] The repeat references to heaven and hell indicate that the religion has a concept of an afterlife, and at one time, anyone who perhaps followed Bambi would be guaranteed heaven; however, this was no longer possible once he began losing his eyes. There is no specific given reason for why Bambi didn't save Madden besides "gods are weird as fuck in that regard"[27], perhaps meaning that he was too far gone to be able to at the point in time the execution happened.

At an unknown point in time, Bambi ceased communication with his religion. His last known conversation with the followers was to tell them to "fuck off".[28] Most likely during or after this, Bambi has completely forgotten about his role as a god, and some time later takes residence in Fort Geraldson, Georgia, steals Zardy's maze, becomes a corn farmer, and meets Dave in no specific order.

Relationships

Dave

Bambi is best friends with Dave, who he met while attempting to steal corn from a corn maze. Some may describe their relationship as being one-sided, since Bambi is stubborn and acts purely on impulse, taking more and mooching off of Dave than giving back to him. However, recent depictions from Rapparep in comics, drawings, and descriptions have shown that they take up for each other in different ways. Bambi is there when Dave needs a helping hand, and they visit each other frequently. Dave also gives Bambi bricks painted like phones whenever he asks for one, which are implied to become functional when Bambi uses them. He acts similar to a guard dog on Dave's behalf, such as when Dave orders him to attack Bully Boy when he learns he's bullying Tristan in one of the comics.

Tristan

Bambi is friends with Dave's son, Tristan, though over the course of their on-screen interactions Bambi yells at him for playing with his phone without permission. Tristan is then scolded for calling the cops.

Boyfriend & Girlfriend

Bambi is possibly friends with Boyfriend and Girlfriend, with him learning to like them over the course of his week, and then later inviting them to his festival.

Expunged

While several of Expunged's forms are heavily based on Bambi, and even uses his same soundbytes, they are not related to each other as people, including familially.[29] Bambi has never met Expunged.[30]

Muko

Muko and Bambi "very rarely interact".[31] Nothing else is known about their relationship.

Pico

Dave and Bambi have apparently met Pico before.[32] Nothing else about their relationship is known, but it does confirm that Pico exists in the Dave and Bambi universe, as do the rest of the characters in the broader Friday Night Funkin' universe.[33]

Trivia

• Bambi stole Zardy's farm from him. He wrote his name over Zardy's on the farm's wooden sign. The whereabouts of Zardy are unknown, but it was stated that Bambi would throw a brick at him if he ever saw him.
• Bambi is two hotdogs tall.
• According to a Rapparep comic, Bambi is light enough to be blown away by a leafblower.[34]
• Bambi's favorite Wii Game is Wii Sports. His favorite Wii Sports game is Bowling.
• Bambi has a green hat instead of a straw hat because he doesn't wear straw hats.[35]
• When asked whether Bambi likes corn on the cob or popcorn, TheBuilderXD stated he simply "prefers corn the way it is" (raw?).[36]
• Bambi would crash a car if (and only if?) he was playing truth or dare, since he wouldn't want to lose a dare.[37]
• Bambi goes to corn mazes and steals corn from them.
  • This is the only crime that he commits.[38]
• Whether or not Bambi has hair is unknown, as nobody has ever been able to see what's underneath his hat.[39] If he did have hair, it would be "as long as him". Most of the devs like to think he's bald.[40]
  • Rapparep stated that if Bambi ever took off his hat for longer than a minute the world would blow up.[41]
• Bambi is a forgotten god, and still has his godlike powers, but he is too stupid to realize this.[42] He is completely unaware that he is a god.[43]
  • If he did figure out he had powers and tried to use them, he would get himself killed in seconds.[44]
• Bambi's angry red form is a reference to Marcello's Funhouse, where Marcello does this after the player collects the second notebook.
• Bambi and Marcello (from Marcello's Funhouse) are not the same entity. Marcello is simply the inspiration for Bambi.
• Bambi and Joke/Mr. Bambi are one in the same but in an alternate universe scenario. They do not coexist with each other.
  • Moreover, there is a phenomenon in Vs. Dave where they cannot be within 20 feet of each other at the same time, but not because they are the same person. The reason for this is unknown, it's just "something that happens".[45]
• Bambi was supposed to have more of a tan due to being a farmer and spending a lot of time in the sun, but Rapparep didn't want to alter his design after it became so popular. This is why his skin is shaded orange instead of pink like Dave's.[46]
• Bambi does not have a father.[47]

• Bambi is aromantic-asexual, though Rapparep has stated he leans more towards being asexual.[48]
